I AM ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello everyone,

Sorry I haven't been around for a while, I have been soooooo busy - and I guess I should fill you in. I have had work coming out of my ears with my day job and with the music career.

I have taken a break from touring now as I became quite exhausted and to concentrate on other things, I should start again around september.

The recording studio is moving to larger and better premises in the next couple of weeks and thats really exciting - so I have put my album on hold for the moment. I have been busy writing some new songs that may or may not feature on the next album, but I really must get this one finished first.

The band have had a quiet time whilst they finish their album off although we had a great open gig in Blackheath a few weeks back. The website is offline at present while I revamp a few things, so I will leave all news here.

I hope to keep you posted,

James Lea

  • Music you should listen: Herbie Hancock - Water Melon Man

I have been on a diet for the last few weeks. I am sick of salad!

Weighing myself on the scales I found that nothings changed. The exercise and dieting (Cutting out the crap!) doesn't seem to be reflected in the scales??? and yet I can look down and see my shoes now (amongs other things!!!)

What encouragment could you folks in blogland give to help me out???

Hmmm? That's VERY encouraging!!!!!! (Can't think why??!!??)

Seriously though, sensible ideas please. I will try anything. I will keep you updated,

THE WEEKEND ENDS HERE - WITH A HANGOVER!!

  • Thought of the day: If God was a woman - On the seventh day he would have gone shopping!
  • Music you should listen: Little Stevie Wonder - Fingertips

Well another weekend gone and it seems everything that could go wrong has gone wrong! My trip to Andover was scuppered due to the vehicle I was using packed up before we left. (I was borrowing a truck to go and fetch some fitted wardrobes from Sarah's Mom and Dad) That just threw everything out totally!

Still - Some good news, Sarah's brother is getting married next year and has asked our son and daughter to be page boy and bridesmaid!

My don't they grow up quick!

Thanks to my Dad who was over at the weekend and we polished off most of a bottle of whiskey on Friday night.

Cheers!

COMPETITION WINNER!!!

  • Thought of the day: Steve Martin as Inspector Clouseau - YUK!
  • Music you should listen: Mark King - The Essentials

After some thoughts about all the entries to the "Birthday Number Ones" competition I have chosen a winner!

It was tough because there were some great classic songs. So the easiest way to solve this was to go on record sales. Boy this information was hard to find.

And the winner is (Drum roll please.......!)

RACHIE!!!!..........her song was Donny Osmond's "Puppy Love" that chalked up over a massive 5 million record sales!!! beating the next nearest (Living Doll at just under 2 million) by quite a distance.

Well Done Rachie and you have won a Donny Osmond CD "What I Meant To Say" . I have ordered it from Ebay so may take a few days!

Stock photo

Thanks to all who joined in. A new competition coming soon!

IT'S ALL IN THE MIX

  • Thought of the day: "You can't sing! You can't play...You'll make me a Million Dollars!!"
  • Music you should listen: 'The Same Old Life' by James Lea

Many people have asked me lately what's happening with my Album? (Not the covers album as mentioned before, This is my Album "wot I wrote!"). This Album has been in production for some time and commitments at home and work do take priority. So to clarify. The Album in a demo form is totally finished! - but it would not be professional to sell this as it is not as I would want it heard.

Each track has a layout, but only in keyboard form with vocals. It will be (Soon!) re-recorded adding live drums, guitars and bass with added vocal harmonies. However, I thought I would wet your appetite. I have loaded an MP3 of one track onto the following site:

http://www.jukeboxalive.com/cgibin/artists/album.pl?itemnumber=232015&show=raw

Have a listen and let me know what you think. I feel it is rough but all the elements of the song are there - It's called "The Same Old Life"

The Album "Heaven" will be out this year, I just can't say when at the moment,

THERE'S ONLY ONE SUPERMAN!!

You may (or may not) be aware that there is a new Superman Movie out this year. I can't help feeling a little odd about it.

You see i am quite content to see many Batman movies with a different actor, and Doctor who changes, so does James Bond, but Christopher Reeves was Superman in my book! The New guy is called Brandon Routh by the way!

What do you think?

Check out the Trailer here http://supermanreturns.warnerbros.com/trailer.html

YOUR BIRTHDAY NUMBER ONE - POST YOURS - PRIZE FOR THE WINNER!!!!

  • Thought of the day: If music be the food of love then make mine a Big Track and Fries
  • Music you should listen: Your Number One

Well folks it's my birthday on Tuesday 14th March (Like you forgot! Ha!) and I have looked up the song that was number one when I was born.....and here it is!

What a cracking song and I was too young to remember it when it came out. It's really good to know that I was born with a classic at Number one.

I looked up Sarah's and it is 'Vincent' by Don McLean. Not such a classic. So on that one I win!

So here's the challenge. Using the "Post Comments" see if you can find the song that was at number one when you were born - Can you beat the Slade classic?

I will be giving a prize to the best classic - Please be honest! My descision will be final!

The chase is on!

DOCTOR WHO AND THE KAYELEKS

  • Thought of the day: You can lead a horse to water but a pencil must be Lead
  • Music you should listen: The Who - Who Are You

Peter Kaye to appear in Doctor Who! Whatever next!

A BBC press release today announces that comedian Peter Kay will appear in the tenth episode of Series Two, playing "the cold and powerful Victor Kennedy". Russell T Davies notes that "this is not a comedy turn" and points to Kay's experience as "a versatile actor" in Paul Abbott's Butterfly Collectors and The Secret Life of Michael Fry. Kay's casting was prompted by a letter he wrote to Davies in praise of Series One.

The story is reported by BBC News, which also lists Kay's appearances in Phoenix Nights and Coronation Street, and by the official Doctor Who website

Oh well at least he hasn't been given the keys to the TARDIS!

William Hartnell would turn in his grave!

ALL WORK AND NO PLAY MAKES JACK A DULL BOY

Well now. Being off work and laid up I've spent a lot of time this week working on the site - bringing it into the 21st Century.

So much so that I have not been spending any time on my other project. For those of you who know me well are aware that I turn my hand to several things and have my finger in several pies (Sir Alan Sugar would be proud!). One of those pies is my attempt at writing a book.

All those I have shown the first chapters to have given me great encouragement (even my dad and he's a real critic!) Although I can't tell you much about it as it's still developing and I want to keep the ideas to myself - If you are a close friend of mine or Sarah's - leave me a comment and I may send you a draft for some feedback.

Oh well. Must go and try to write at least 1000 words on it. See you soon,

James Lea

WHERE'S MY PIPE AND SLIPPERS?

What a strange day!

I have still been off work with my back, hopefully returning tomorrow, I had a lovely walk around the garden for about twenty minutes before the rain came. Sprnig seems to be in the air.

It didn't last..........and the rains came.

I really hate the winter! All that darkness and miserable weather. I find a bit of sunshine puts me in a much more positive frame of mind.

Lets hope the rain goes over the weekend and we can all enjoy the garden a bit more.........

GOD I AM GETTING OLD!!!!

JAMES LEA 10th ANNIVERSARY ALBUM - TIME VORTEX

This is the new album I am working on. It is a collection of previously recorded songs and some new stuff that I will be recording over the easter holidays.

I will be in "The Basement Studio" in Dudley for a few days. The Album will cost £10.00 and considering it is a

 DOUBLE CD

so it should be well worth the money. I will keep you posted.

SUPER MOM TO THE RESCUE!!!

Laid up from work with a bad back makes you really appreciate what a good job the wife actually does. I have been off for two days now and there is nothing I hate more than sitting around all day (Hmmm? is that right???)

Anyway, my wife Sarah never stops. School runs with JP our son, tidying up, preparing meals and looking after Sophie our youngest. Now those of you who know Sarah will tell you that she suffers quite badly with her health (I won't go into details as that is her business, but many of you will know what I mean).

This is my opportunity to say to her thanks for looking after me and that she deserves a medal.

She is my strength and I hope to be back to work on Friday.
